Battle of the Bids

CoStar and Ten-X recently put on a nationwide contest called Battle of the Bids amongst brokers, appraisers, and other commercial real estate professionals.

Over 15,000 people participated in the 8 round competition to guess the final bid on properties being sold on the Ten-X auction site. Contestants selected up to ten properties in each round and bet what each property would sell for at auction. The closer each bet was to the winning bid amount at the end of the auction, the more points they earn.

In the first round, I placed in the top 10 and immediately realized I was in the running for the grand prize of a million dollars. The competition started in April and ended in late July. I placed in the top 10 in 3 of the 8 rounds and in the last round I finished in first place which was just enough to win it all.

A highlight for me was winning $100,000 for the charity of my choice. It was an easy decision for me and I had the privilege of presenting Big Brothers Big Sisters of Puget Sound with a check that I know will go a long way towards match support.

I’m thankful to have come out on top and hope Ten-X decides to host round 2 next year.
